[Jamming] MPC 305 Bypass tray jams Jam code J017

Hi, I had this problem today,

MPC 305 intermittent jams from bypass try. Copier showing Jam code J017. The paper didn't quite reach the reg sensor.

    The solution:

The Bypass lift plate runs in 2 little vertical grooves. The one I saw, the cams were very slightly loose and pushing down more on one side than the other. Only very slightly but enough to cause friction on the plate and preventing smooth up and down movement of the bypass lift plate, causing intermittent jamming. I slid my screwdriver with a little grease on the tip up and down the grooves lightly coating the tracks, and it immediately stopped the jamming problem. I have attached a photo to help visualize. Hope this helps someone else.

If I had had the problem 6 months ago, I would have......

Just as an aside..... Ricoh Technical specialist in the UK suggested changing the clutches, I tested the clutches by running the main motor, engaging the clutch for the bypass tray, and then trying to stop the bypass tyre with my fingers..... Well, I REALLY struggled to stop the tyre from rotating!! which is why I started looking for other reasons for jamming. There is no way that the clutch was a problem.

Hi! This solved my problem!!! I called the official support technicians three times on this issue, without them solving the problem. In five minutes, the machine was working 100% ok.
        I have a Ricoh c307 btw.

        Thanks A LOT!

        Greetings from Argentina.
