I know this thing is ancient but I am going to ask anyway. I can ping it and print to it with a crossover cable but it will not ping or print from the either the customers network or our in shop network. Not getting any error codes. I have swapped the controller and that did not fix it. I do not have a NIC to swap. I can access it thru WIM with a crossover cable and I reset the NIC and tried changing the settings. When I ping it from the network I get "request timed out" or "destination host unreachable" message.

Don't trust ping, it will only tell you that something is on that IP.
If it prints with a crossover cable then there is nothing wrong with the machine. Try a new network cable and triple-check that the settings are perfect. Check that nothing else is on the same IP, if possible put the device on DHCP and print through the hostname.
Write down the all network settings (including file transfer) and do a memory clear on NCS if all else fails. -

Make sure the IP-adress of the machine is not in the lease list of the DHCP-server. This happened to me a few times. The DHCP-server can assign the same IP-adress of the machine to some other network device if the IP-adress is in the lease list, which results in two IP-adresses on the same subnet. And that can cause strange things....Comment
