    Ricoh 3045

The first inch from the top of pages has a slight backgrounding. Which is at the dev entrance side of the shading

Drum blade charge roller transfer section and developer have all been changed and initialized according to the manual. Mag roller is clean
after 7k the same problem re occurs.

I have serviced this many times before without any problems the developer carries on for a lot longer than to the pm.

I keep changing the developer at every 7k copies. The edge of the dev unit is always building up toner near the entrance of the dev unit.

In my past experience a bad drum ground causes coating on the surface of the drum and keep having to change the drum but not in this case, it's always the dev.

If the dev is building up on one side of the dev unit is the machine level? Could also be one of the augers inside the dev unit has failed and isn't moving the dev around as it should.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

        Hit it.

what mileage has the machine done could it be time for a new dev unit i think they recommend
replacing after 500k ish (could be wrong cant remember)
is the customer using compat or original toners
i would always stick to original toners with this model

Another thing to check is the top cover of the developer unit. The mylars that go across the mag roller have a tendency to get deformed and pick up some of the carrier and transfer it to the paper.

Machine has done 1.3 million. We supply them with compatible toner and never had a problem with the toner. The developer is a bo79 9640 best developer out there. Always last longer.

Compatible toner is never consistent in quality. It may work for months, but then your supplier decides to get his toner elsewhere. That's where the problems start. If you have to visit the customer a few times to clean and replace developer, the profit you make by using cheap toners is gone. In fact it will cost you money.

Sounds like a dirty doctor blade or a doctor blade gap out of spec.
