MPC2003 ( Metis ) admin and supervisor password

Dear All,

MPC2003 ( Metis ) admin and supervisor password is changed to new password and it is forgotten . Please advice reset this with out replacing NVRAM

There are thousands of threads on this, if you can't be bothered to search for it, we can't be bothered to help you. So, no, if the customer or you have changed the passwords, it is your responsibility to find out what it is.

If you can't find the password, then you will need to replace the NVRAM.

In future either do not tell the end-user that they change the password, or tell them if they change it they will be charged. The end-user can create their own admins without changing the default admin. Never tell the end-user that supervisor exists.

I searched the forum before post this thread and I did not find the solution other than replacing NVRAM

Then you did not search for the correct thing. There are numerous thread for resetting the admin and supervisor passwords. Or you could just scroll the Ricoh, Savin, Gestetner, Lanier forum.

I'm always keeping the Supervisor information for myself, with a few exceptions. It may be usefull in the future. A lot of customers don't read manuals and are therefore not aware of the Supervisor account. Let's keep it that way to prevent more damage....

Do a google search, for example : MP C2003 Supervisor lost" and add site:Copytechnet Home after your search phrase. This will do a search only on Copytechnet.

We never let a customer be the first one to turn on a new machine. Always leads to problems.

When I suspect that customers know about this Supervisor account, I program my own password. This may be unethical, but it saves a lot of work.

In my case new tech who forgotten the password and we wasted lot time to recovery it but fail last

Try entering just space. I have heard of techs entering that at first power up.

There's one thing you can do without change nvram,but you must have another machine with same type, first of all, put a formated sdcard in slot 2 on machine with passwd unchanged, next enter in service mode and do nvram upload procedure , now put sdcard in a laptop or something and you will see one file with nvram information, now rename file with serial number of the machine that password has lost, now put sdcard I that machine and do nvram download procedure, and you are good to go, just remember, all information of previous machine will be transfer for that, I receive a lot of machines with this issue and always solve this problem, can anybody try this and tell us if works for you to?

I'm very interested to see if someone can confirm whether or not this can fix supervisor password.. Seems a lot more easy than using HeX editor.
