Does your machine have the B577 Print/Scanner? The HDD reformat is in the 5 mode and is a notebook type Hard drive. I wouldn't mess with this if you are not a tech.

oh i'm a tech, but i don't see many ricoh's, mostly canon's and xerox's. and this is my first hd on a ricoh. my understanding was that it is as simple to install as a IR500 hd. and i've noticed that i can edit canon's serivice tools files to use a wider variety hd's on the ir3300's, ir3320's, ir5000's, and ir6000's. where on the ir500 the type of drive really didn't matter as long as it was IDE it would work. at this point all i know is the machine needs a hd, it does have print and scan, and i'm trying to comfirm that its as easy as installing a new drive, and reformating it in service mode. aswell as the type of drive.

I replaced a HDD a little while back and I put in a 40GB note book drive that I took out of a xerox printer. To reformat the hard drive, go into the service mode, then 5-832-001 which will reformat the HDD. Hope this helps...
