    MP 301 Driver Weirdness

    OK, this is weird.

Just had a customer upgrade their 15 MP161s to MP301s.

Almost all of them started throwing SC819 codes soon after installation.

They had "not yet gotten around" to changing drivers on the print server, they still were using the MP161 PCL 5 driver, not sure what version (Server 2008 and Win 7 clients).

They changed the drivers out a few days ago for the right ones.

    So far, no SC819 codes.

Seems a bit severe for a driver issue, no?

I agree pretty harsh. Usually with PCL5 you can get by until you make the driver change.

X2!! would have expected no problem, the controller must handle the print stream data differently...................

Of course, we have so much network goofiness from this customer that nothing from them surprises me.

For all I know, the 161 drivers may have been possessed.

I tried using an MP C3000 driver to test print on one of our refurbed 3502's and I thought we'd got an issue with our brand new copier because every full page colour print had a real thin void line same place everytime. Started using a 3300 driver (because the chassis of a 3502 is basically a 3300) and low and behold the line disappeared.

That was a silly one, i've had various customers install different drivers on different PC's and then moan that the copier does one thing for one person and another for another person.

Drivers are a pain in the arse.
