It is almost the same as a MPC2000-3000 fuser, just a bit bigger.

Check the pressure roller drive gear; these can crack. Check the clutch gear; these can collapse. Also, check the foam roller, if it is damaged around the shaft it will need to be replaced.

The Pressure Roller Bearings need a bit of heat resistant grease to prevent that rattling noise during printing.

My rule of thumb when rebuilding something that I have done before, follow the service manual, step by step.

Me too, that's what the manual is for, and you can save yourself a lot of heartache, once you know the correct procedure, then it's possible to look for shortcuts

I usually do the kit + press roller thermistor. If no long time solution is needed I try cutting some costs and just replace the defect parts.

Honestly, these are one of the better fusers Ricoh has come out with. 250K is just breaking it in for the most part. I have had them go 500K+ before without issues.

The advice given by other posters is spot on in terms of checking/replacing the gear and also greasing the bearings.

Don't be so fast to assume on the thermistor on the heat tube (the one with the belt). I have had a fair number of these that do need to be changed from time to time or you wind up with 543 codes. With 250K on it, I would not change it, but this is more of a FYI than anything.

Re: rebuilding a mpc 2800 fuser - pressure roller gear

I can not seem to identify the pressure roller gear in the MPC2800 MPC3300 parts manual.
Does anyone know the part no.?
If I am correct, the pressure roller is the black roller with one lamp, outside of the belt.

                      Part no. AB014308 I suppose.

Question about the life expectancy of all fuser bearings. How long can they last? Do you replace them when the fuser hits ~250k or they start to rattle?

i usually have the whole kit and change everything.
then save parts that look good in a marked used box..
