    Firmware Update Procedure Questions

    Under Remote Update Environment.

SD card firmware extension is "fwu" and Remote firmware file extension is
    "rfu"
    or "rru"(Black/White).
Is it possible to "rename" the file extension from "fwu" to "rfu" for the same program?
I.E. D36015570J.fwu to be renamed as D3615570J.rru, do you think
if it is workable. because I don't find the file for remote update
    (D017_GWFCU_V9.00),
I did checked both file size, a little bit of different so I am sure if they are identical.
Second, File Naming Structure. is it possible to rename the file structure like
    D018xxxxX.rru from D017xxxxX.rru?
    (the first Three(3) digits
starting from A letter represents Prod. Code, Capital X
    represent version order)
Because If file name is not matched to the machine exception the rule of Underscore(-), it will pop up error for remote update.

And What is about meaning of animation (D0875568)file program?

How is procedure of language file (Lang0 D0871496A, and Lang1 D08714961) to add another language.

    Thank You

Really, you think it's that simple that you can rename a file and do the upgrade? There's more to the differences between .rfu and .fwu files than you think. If you try this, I'll be waiting for your post about how to recover from a bad frimwar update!!!!!!! If you do this, you will brick your machine and your language files won't be needed. Buy a manual and RTFM !!!!!!!!!!!

I a word NO! If you don't know the meaning of "animation", you don't need it. All firmware SD, remote, and custom/special for the D017/018/019/020 are available from both TSRC and rfg-esource.

I don't think he would brick the machine - it would just ot work because the content/file data headers etc. are different. Machine should just refuse to update if the file isn't valid.

In case somebody like to try it out: No guarantee from my end it's really that idiot proof, just a thought^^

Models that have the Smart Operation Panel option can load the firmware for the normal panel and NOP machines can load firmware firmware for the SOP. Either error can have major unfavorable results. Improper firmware loading can cause the NVRAM and/or the controller board to have to be replaced in order to recover.

Why do you think they have different extensions? If both files are the same, like you mentioned, they don't have to release two versions.

Maybe the firmware will play on Windows Media Player when I change the extension to MP3...

I do love listening to a bit of D1365520M.mp3 but I'm more partial to the M0445404L.mp3 tone.

I'd like to listen to something in pure technical tune. Look at Sub-highlight title: Remote Update Environment.
If lucky enough, someone knowing on BSD UNIX, expertise says something, it would be highly appreciated. Like Flash Stock Rom as you play smartphone well.
I know the Two files size different, First instance remind myself of not renaming, so need advance expertise to advise how to modify the file, a creative idea. Idea occurred because TSRC made a mistake that the SD program file(.fwu) put into the same remote file program section.

Don't waste your time. You'll need to have access to the Ricoh source code, which is impossible. And altering firmware files can cause serious problems. If you can't find the firmware, why not call Ricoh and ask for it, (if you're certified), instead of trying to hack the firmware.

Allthough NetBSD is open source, the BSD licence doesn't forbid anyone to make it closed source. The licence says something like: "Do with it whatever you want, but don't complain if it doesn't work."

By the way, why are you using multiple accounts here?

He has been given enough warnings not to do this, so it's his reponsibility. Controller Boards and Engine Boards are not the cheapest parts.

That's true plus some other possible limitations like different BCU firmware for different MP201 board revisions - pick the wrong one and say goodbye to your board

I was just referring to 95% of the update scenarios that are business as usual...

Thank you for remark regarding BCU firmware for different MP201 board revisions, I did once while first approaching the industry. I still remember something like "new engine board is only appliable to the firmware, old board type cannot use the firmware......: AT that time don't pay too much attention to illustration or firmware history. Anyhow, we're not Computer IT or OS experts, should not involve in too much on firmware.

                              thanks Folks
