Can a PCU Unit (Loss of ground between the unit and the copier) from a Ricoh Aficio 1035 cause an SC350 error code? Any help appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Ricoh Aficio 1035 PCU Unit
I used to have a real knack for not getting the PCR installed properly in these PCU's, so that it didn't contact the drum entirely. Black copies and SC's were the result.
Beyond that, I think you're looking at an HVU, or BICU, and that's just plain nonsense on a 14 year old box.Comment

Bad grumd of the drum shaft is not uncommon - back then we used some modifications like sort of copper-spring plates touching the rear end of the drum shaft. I also recall I wicked quick and dirty improvisation I did with a paper clip LOL
I also wouldn't recommend start ordering expensive stuff for this machine even if I like it more than the current engine^^Comment

Re: Ricoh Aficio 1035 PCU Unit
I believe the SC350 can also be caused by the Timing Pulley (AB030574) that is on Drum Shaft slipping. It is "D" shaped and can cause problems when it wears and you have a very old machine. When this pulley goes you also get partial images, black bands, shrunk images in your copies. Take the Flywheels off and take a close look at this pulley.Comment

I have also encountered machines where the ground contact for the doctor blade is missing from the back of the development unit. This will cause dirty background.Comment

Re: Ricoh Aficio 1035 PCU Unit
I was curious what that error code actually was for, so I looked up today while at lunch. Turns out SC350 is a bad ID sensor pattern. While SC350 can be caused by a bad drum ground, based on the latest information I'd guess something along the lines of contaminated charge roller would be far more likely in this case (toner should only be attracted to parts of the drum that have less charge after all, and a faulty drum ground prevents that). I suppose that there is a chance that the developer bias could be turned up to a ridiculous value or the developer material could be way overtonered, but as the charge roller cleaning pad on these machines tend to disintegrate over time I'd say the charge roller and it's associated systems should be considered the most likely suspects.Comment

what are the vsg and vsp readings?? Have you done the "Patch check on this machine??" Open the duplexer and the RH door, Cheat(err Bypassthe door safty switches) to see if the machine actually develops a good patch??????Mystic Crystal RevelationsComment
