    [Misc] Port 25 on At&t U-Verse Router

    Port 25 on At&t U-Verse internet conection (router) is terned off by default ,you have to call att and turn it on.

    Actually, you can change it yourself. If you have physical access to the NVG 510, the pass code for administrator mode is printed on the information label. That is provided someone has not scratched it out. Be advised, there are those who feel that the NVG of the Motorola model name stands for "Not Very Good". VPN and a number of other functions of a good DSL or cable modem do not work dependably. Get VPN working, a couple of days or weeks later, modem firmware gets updated overnight and it no longer works. Not only that but what needs to be done to get working has changed.

    I have also found that if your SMTP server requires SSL or TLS, AT&T blocks those ports to any server but their own.

    One thing to consider, GoDaddy and a few other email services allow using port 80 for SMTP. Port 80 cannot be blocked as it is the port used for internet browsers.
