Savin 2522 printing occasional 3/8" bands across page like a test pattern

I have a customer that has a Savin 2522 that occasionally prints a perfect test pattern with 3/8" alternating black and white bands. The problem is it is supposed to be copying what is on the glass. I haven't seen this one before that I remember but I don't do a lot of Ricoh/Savin either.

That makes 2 of us that haven't seen this before.
It sounds like for whatever reason the last test pattern setting is taking over from time to time....Or....were you just there recently and happened to leave the machine on the copy screen but still in "SP mode"? That could explain it.
*EDIT...On 2nd thought, that would happen through the ADF too.
So let's just blame it on the 15 year old circuitry getting a little confused
In any case, I'd suggest that setting SP2-902-3 (test pattern printing) to 0 (off) from whatever number it was left on, should take care of it.

The only time I have seen this problem was on an old Aficio 250. The problem was with the image processing unit which at that time was part of the BICU. On the 2522, it could be the IPU board or the SBU board. The SBU is part of the lens assembly. On this model line, the IPU board for the 2522 and the 2527 are different.
