[Misc] ricoh aficio MP 2510 asks for user & pass and nothing works

    Hi everybody!

This machine is blocked with a screen message, asking for a user name and password.

Nothing else works. "admin", "password", or left intencionally blank one or both of them, doesn't works.

Only "supervisor" lets take a look. No modify its allow at all! (another screen message appears and nothing more)

The copier was working properly until I tried to change the IP ( I tried to set "automatically detect") and then, the screen message appeared.

The copier is NOT connected... therefore I can only access "system settings" through screen display...

    Anybody can help me?

    Thanks in advance!

Log in as supervisor, select device management and then configuration. Program change administrator under Administrator 1, click change next to login password. Leave blank and hit ok and ok. You should now have the user name next to Administrator 1 as the user name and no password.

The only thing that supervisor can do is change the administrator(s) name and password. Follow 88hawkfan's instructions. Next go to User Tools, login as admin or what ever the Administrator1 name is and select System Settings - Administrator Tools. Open User Authentication and turn it off.

When I enter as "supervisor", the machine answer only with a screen message and nothing more. Only if I push the key "user tools" appears a normal screen. Option "device management" doesn't exist, only "system settings". Well, if I push I can see all the features, but when I try to enter to "key operator tools", whatever screen key you push, always appears the same damn screen message... you NOT allow to modify NOTHING...

Help please.... How can I to generate a new administrator account???? this option NEVER appears!!!

You have to enter User Tools then login as Supervisor.

"device management" or "administrator tools" neither appears, and others screen windows keys (like " key operator tools"), if I push generates screen message in all options included...

How can I find "administrator tools" ?

Cause if I push "user tools", then "system settings", this window does not exist!!!

You must be skipping a step somewhere, the following steps assume that the supervisor login is still at default. If not then do a search on the forum on how to correct this...

Supervisor OperationsLogging on as the Supervisor
If administrator authentication has been specified, log on using the supervisor
login user name and login password. This section describes how to log on.
                A Press the {User Tools/Counter} key.
                B Press [Login].
C Enter 'supervisor' as login name
D Leave the password field blank and press OK.

You should now be in supervisor mode, you can only change the Administrator login/password in this state!

                A Press [System Settings].
                B Press [Administrator Tools].
C Press [Program / Change Administrator].
D Press [Change] under 'Administrator 1'
E User name should be 'admin', if not then make it so.
F Press [Change] next to 'Password'.
G Leave the field blank and press ok, repeat a 2nd time when asked
H Press [OK] two times to back out

Log back in using 'admin' and leave the password field blank.

                  Got it!

                  I'll try.

                  I'm thinking about two issues...

First, I put "supervisor" into fields of screen message!!! (which always appears just turn on copier) not by push "login"... but somewhat it works at first...

Second, screen flap key "administrator tools"... only appears if you enter like a "supervisor" or "admin" ???? (not at normal mode??)

                  Thanks in advance!!!

I think there's some confusion here, I think the message is on the screen to log in as a user, in which case, a user authentication, such as windows authentication, has been selected.
Press the user tools button, if necessary, log in as admin, no password (hopefully that hasn't been changed), press system settings, then administrator tools, go to page 2, select user authentication, select off

I think Teebee1234 has made it very very clear for you with this step by step guide.
and it can't be easier then this..

can you take a (snap shot) of the screen and post it here? That will rule out the confusion about Admin Authentication or User Authentication.

                      Regards

                        Well... the machine WORKS!!!

But It was necessary to connect a laptop, and accessed to web page of machine... and managed through this.
It was possible 'cause my son (a networks technician) could view on screen display the IP.

It's remarkable that was IMPOSSIBLE to solve through screen display!

I hope this is useful for someone else.

                        Cheers.

Most of us use WIM (Web Image Monitor) all the time. When working with the address book, it is nice to have a full keyboard is stead of a touch screen. There are a few things though that have to be configured through User Tools.

On minolta's copiers does not necessary to do this, except for some special features. Certainly, on that brand NEVER had a trouble like this... You simply execute "memory clear" and copier works again. In fact, most of NVRAM data were stored despite this procedure.

May be, one difference between brands, consist in which kind of data store each one in NVRAM...

MP 2510 is not a new machine. Most likely the previous owner was using either Windows authentication, LDAP authentication or Integrated Server authentication. They were probably using some level of security for the User Tools. With Ricoh, you can specify what machine functions require the user to log in and what protected functions each user can access.
