    MP171 SC819

Hey guys! I'm primarily a Sharp tech so pardon any ignorance that may come across. I have a 171 that presented with SC819, subcode 696e. Ricoh advised replacing the controller board - I did. Ricoh advised replacing the RAM - I did. My problem continues to persist.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Crap, I forgot to mention, a firmware update was the very first thing I did before replacing any parts. My apologies.

According to the GG, a bad HDD may be at fault. Disconnect it and see if it codes.

Does the machine have any options installed that might require the HDD be present?

Does it have a Java card that may have crapped out?

                Re: MP171 SC819

What is the product code on the serial number plate, D067, D068, D069, or D072? It most likely is the D068 or D069 as the Service Manual does nor show SC 819 for the D067 and D072. If it is a D068 or D069, it might have an HDD. If there is no HDD, check to make sure neither that the HDD Encryption Unit nor the Data Overwrite Security Unit is installed as they require the HDD. If it is the D069 MP 171SFP it must have the 512 MB memory DIMM as it is required for the Print function. If it is missing, defective, or not installed properly, that could be the source of the problem.

Thanks for the replies guys, to address your comments:

Machine is a base level MP171SPF with no options other than a second tray installed. Javascript was not enabled on this machine. Product code D068. RAM was replaced as per my original post.

Ricoh has suggested it could be corrupt NVRAM or a corrupt SD card. Barring that, they say they're out of ideas. Going to attempt to replace SD card and/or NVRAM as per their suggestions.
