Yes. Quite common for a hot roller that is due for replacement to look like that. Toner builds up on the surface except where the stripper pawls and thermistor contact it.

Thanks, that's just what I thought. My first time working directly on Ricoh machines, I'm from a Konica Minolta & Kyocera background.

First tech to respond thought it was a "bad" toner that caused this?

Has anyone ever seen a worn-out hot roller? Yeah, just about every day.
ALSO. Having not worked on one of these yet, that roller doesn't look like any of the OEM rollers in similar models (but i may be mistaken). If it is a generic.... anything's possible at any time, with some of that crap!

I'm new to Ricoh machines as my background is Konica Minolta & Kyocera.

My feeling was the roller was finished. Other tech told me he thinks it was a "bad toner".
