We are not a Ricoh dealer and don't have access to the Ricoh support site to download firmware. Does anyone know of another way to get the latest Ricoh firmware for the MP 201SPF? I need the engine, controller, fax, a full set of firmware for this model and accessories.

You could call Ricoh's end user support line, it used to be 1-800-fastfix, and ask for it. They will probably send a tech out to install it so that they know that it is done properly. They might however provide you with it, at a nominal fee roughly equivalent to what they would charge for a tech to come out. -

Just be very careful with the MP201 and firmware. If memory serves me well I remember that there were 2 "versions" of MP201 as they were produced around the time there was a huge disaster in Japan that took out factories that supplied chips for the motherboards.
This forced Ricoh to source a "compatible" chip that works with different firmware than the original.
There is a very real chance that if you load the wrong firmware you WILL brick your machine and would need to replace the board as there is no rollback from it.
If there is no need for firmware (or if the issue you have is causing you to suspect firmware) make VERY sure that you get the right firmware before going ahead with the update.Press the GREEN button!!Comment

Thank you for this information. Could you tell me if the MP 201SPF interfaces with Windows 7 and 8 for scanning without a firmware update? I know that the older MP161 and possibly the 171 had to have the updates to work for scanning.Comment

Based on release and production dates. Windows 7 definitely not. Windows 8 probably not.Comment
