7 cents color and .9 b&w is pretty thin, but there's money to be made IF both machines are spec'd up before you take it. My guess is the MP4000 has never had a pm - check your counts. If not I would make them pay for the 320k pm kit and developer and throw the labor in if they sign the contract. The MPC4500 is an excellent box, but again I would check counts and make them spec it up first. The total counter on the color looks pretty low. Drums are good for 130k to 180k depending on volume and who's servicing it. The color PCU's are getting toward the end of life as far as taking it on without spec'ing it up. You can use the SPC811dn fuser (250.00) in this model (edp code 402718) You have to move a pin on the connector but it's pretty easy. Also the black drum unit can be used in all color slots if the connector is shaved on the back. I would take them both under contract.

Pretty decent models and low counter readings considering the age of the MFDs.

Not knowing the previous service history and current status I don't think I would offer them a comprehensive contract, but probably wouldn't have a issue putting them on a PM / yield parts only contract.

Man you guys must deal with some old machines... We don't even put MPC4500's out in the field any more. Oldest box that I clean up for new installs is a 2800.

He was pretty clear about it being a new customer that wants him to take over service from their existing service company

I used to be a service manager for a company that had six branch office in Washington state. We called guys like me "Jo Jo the rag man" because they got the leftover scraps. But we got bought out by a company that ryhmes with Spanka. They had me managing a five state region and my biggest responsibility was to pick guys to lay off. When they asked me to start firing the guys with highest salaries I said NO WAY, so they fired me.

Sometimes it sucks being Jo Jo the rag man, but not as much as working for those Corporate jack knobs! ;-)

Check the PM portion of the data log. Anything that is over 50% should be replaced a the customer's expense before placing under maint.
