I have a jamming problem. Jam 013 is (Duplex Exit 2: ON). The paper feeds into the duplex and feeds down and just as it is entering into the machine, the paper just stops and displays Jam 013. The paper is on the exit sensor of the duplex unit. I checked all the sensors in the duplex unit input mode and they all are good, I get a change of state. I don't see anything blocking the entrance of the machine. Has anyone seen this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The duplexer lead plugged into the rear of the machine may be loose, giving at duplexer sensor jamb code.Inauguration to the "AI cancel-culture" fraternity 1997...

Re: Jam 013 AF3035
I am getting a change in state on the exit sensor, but I will replace it. I will also check the wiring from the duplex to the back of the machine. Thanks for your advice.Comment

Re: Jam 013 AF3035
I worked on a duplexer can't remember which AF/MP series years ago now.
The machine came from the factory with the duplexer top rollers turn around sensor not fitting firmly to the sensor PCB.
The sensor loom fit to the machine was stretch to the limit and only just made partial contact on the sensor PCB.
It was a dynamic fault for ages. I found the cause by chance and rerouted the wire loom with more length to the sensor PCB. Problem solved.Inauguration to the "AI cancel-culture" fraternity 1997...

Re: Jam 013 AF3035
Which exit sensor are you checking, the exit sensor, the fusing exit or the duplex exit sensor? The duplex exit sensor is a flag type sensor. If it is slow in changing state, you will get a jam at the location you describe, lead edge of the paper just entering the main machine.Comment

Re: Jam 013 AF3035
The duplex exit sensor is on order. I will also order the relay clutch. Thanks for the advice. I will let you know.Comment

Re: Jam 013 AF3035
I replaced the exit sensor in duplex unit and the relay clutch, with the registration clutch. Still getting jam 13. I ended up putting another duplex unit on the machine from another AF3035.......same thing. As soon as the paper enters the copier it just stops and displays Jam 013. Single sided copies work just fine, no problem at all. Any other suggestions.Comment

Re: Jam 013 AF3035
I don't know how much this will help, but I've seen when the gates that direct the paper into the duplexer don't respond quickly enough, they can sometimes cause something like this.
Wish I would have caught this thread earlier. If you already had the scanner unit off the machine, it would have been easy to lube the pivot points for the gates and to also check for damage to the small rubber pads on the interchange unit then.
Sorry about that.Comment

Re: Jam 013 AF3035
I would make 1 double-sided copy..... it would feed into the duplex unit and down to the exit of the duplex unit and as soon as it enters the copier it stops and displays Jam 013. It is like the registration rollers are not turning on to pull the paper in.Comment

Re: Jam 013 AF3035
Is there any chance you could share a picture of the duplexer exit area with the jammed sheet of paper sticking out of it? I was going to say this problem could be caused by bad paper, because that is kind of likely, but I'd rather be sure whether it is or not.Comment

If the lead edge has gotten to the slit glass, your problem could be there. I had a machine that had a few grains of sand where the plastic scale holding the slit glass met the slit glass. Just large enough to stop the paper.Comment

Re : phantom jambs.
If I remember the AF1035, MP35/4500 had a long actuator shaft fuser exit sensor mounted under the small upper cover above the front door cover. This sensor mounted outside on the main frame would get dirty and throw a phantom/random jamb code I can't recall the jamb code that would come up on the display. I'm trying to picture the exit sensor location on the AF3035. I'll have to find a manual and have a look. I have had loose labels stuck to exit roller shaft causing random sensor jambs.
I'm not sure if the above is any help to you.Inauguration to the "AI cancel-culture" fraternity 1997...

Re: Jam 013 AF3035
The mylar on the side door was out of position, about a 1/8th of an inch. Found out a technician before me replaced the side door and removed and replaced everything, including the mylar on the new door. So when you would close the side door, the mylar would just catch on the metal plate inside the copier that flips down and would tuck in the mylar that would block the paper path. Mystery solved.Comment
