Aficio 2035e scan to email issue

    Hi there,

First time poster, so apologies in advance!

We have an Aficio 2035e in which the scan to email function only works intermittently.

I have to scan a document 3 times and hope that it emails to me; this sometimes works, and most of the time doesn't, which means I have to rescan again and again until it finally sends it.

There are no issues seeing the printer from the network as we can print there all the time, and as far as we can tell, the printer sees our email server perfectly.

Any idea what I can do to fix this one?

Any hell would be hugely appreciated!

    Giving Hell is IMinds department.

If you are using a local mail server, it may be busy doing other things. Talk to the IT dept.

Try using the IP addy of the email server instead of the name and see if it makes it faster, if it does, possibly make changes to the DNS servers.

Try sending email to a local address.

If a machine works fine for an application, and suddenly starts working intermittently, you should look at the settings of the devices you're relying on and check to see if they have changed.

As previously stated, it is probably relating to your mail server. Did any settings change? Is email performance at other computers erratic? Does name resolution seem to take longer (DNS)?

Scan-to-email settings rely on multiple items to work, whether internal or external mail servers for instance and it can be a bit difficult to diagnose.

Is there IT staff available to contact? Many times, settings were changed on their end and they don't realize that the copier has to also be updated with those new settings.

You could check in the scanner mode the scan file status and see whats happening to your previous scanned file, if they pending, cancelled, or sent. In some cluster servers when they shift user due to failure some users can loose rights, IT staff must help with this one, I personally think it´s a network issue an has nothing to do with the machine.
You could try setting up scan to folder via SMB or FTP and see what happens.
