    mpc2051 much different than a mpc2050?

    hi.
looking for some lot meter lease return low end color units and was wondering
is there any major difference in the mpc2051?
looks like drum units and transfer units are the same.
outside of boards are they interchangeable?
    any improvements for scanning?
    thnx

Fuser, firmware and boards are different. Everything else is the same; drums, ITB, PTR, etc.

For these models I highly recommend you carry at least one PCU and a fusing sleeve (called 'belt' in the manual but it is a sleeve). These models are prone to BK drum damage and the sleeve goes quite quickly, once it does the machine will make a horrible groaning noise. At first I thought it was the paper friction pad, but it nearly always the fuser sleeve.

You can use the older friction pads B0XX-2710, can't remember the exact code, instead of current ones. (Older ones are cheaper).

Also, always carry a duplex entrace guide, the teeth break easily.

Ruben is correct. One other thing, The black toner cartridge is different and is not interchangeable. The color cartridges can be interchanged. The color cartridges for the MP C2551 have a target yield of 9500 as opposed to 5500 for the 2550.

If a loud vibration is heard while paper is being fed from Paper Feed Tray 1 or 2, use friction pads D1052722. See TSB D037/D038/D040/D041 - 044.

We only order MPC2051 black toner and break off one tiny lug on the bottle which makes it interchangeable between both models as the price is similar, and higher yield for the 2051

Did they mod the material? I haven't had a chance to check for mods. Been pretty busy.

They actually added a dry lubricant to the points where it contacts the tray base. Surprisingly, it seems to work.
