    Authentication Fail - MP C4500

Got a refurbished 4500, I would really like to use the machine, everything works great except I cannot get into the machine because it asks me for a login user name and password to get into anything on the "user tools" settings. And I can't change the IP address since i can't get into system settings. Does anybody know a way to get past this? Thank you

Try Admin no password or Supervisor no password
the supervisor will let you change the admin password
there are plenty of threads on this matter

Right...I know how to do this from the web image monitor, but i can't even get into that without knowing the IP address of the machine. And when i go into user tools to hit "system settings" it makes me log in. So i have to get through that to change the password.

Unless the admin login has been changed, you can login under User Tools (button is top right) with the default login credentials. You can then remove the requirement for an admin login under System Settings -> Administrator Tools -> Administrator Authentication Management.

Right...I know how to do that from system settings, it's just that it requires a login user name and password to get into system settings, this is what I need to get by. Any ideas? I used several combinations for the user name and password (admin, administrator, supervisor, etc.)none of them have worked. Anything I can do to the print card to fix it maybe?

You are either going to have to replace or edit the NVRAM. There is a post on how to edit the NVRAM on the forum somewhere. Just do some searching.

Search CTN for skynetto's password reset tool.
If you can't find it I have it here somewhere.

Search CTN for "A new tool for helping techs" or just "skynetto".
You may have to get an updated version from Skynetto.

Thank you! SC 5055 allowed me to see the IP address which then allowed me to go into the web image monitor and I was able to turn off the authentication from there.I know the SC5801 can definitely cause some trouble, especially if you don't have the birth certificate so I would stay away from that if possible or as a last resort. Thanks for all the advice.

If you could get in to turn off Administrator Authentication with WIM, why were you not able to do so from the front panel?
