Ricoh Pro C900s 254 error code

    Hello,

I have a Ricoh Pro C900s that displays an error code of 254. I replaced the 2 laser units under the toner cartridges but it wasn't fixed. I am not even sure if it is the laser unit or something else.
please advice me what to do

    Kind Regards

If you have had the rear controller box off then :

SC254 occurs when the machine is turned on.
    Wrong connections between CN413and CN416
    Wrong connections between CN412and CN415

SC254 occurs when power is switched ON.
Wrong connections between CN411and CN414/ and between CN413andCN416
    Wrong connections between CN411and CN414/ and between CN412and CN415

    Otherwise:

254 D Laser synchronizing detection error: Start position [Y]: LD2

The laser synchronizing detection signal for the start position of the LDB [Y], [M], [C] or [K] is not detected while the LDB unit is in the READY state.

    * Disconnected or defective harness to synchronizing detector for start position

    * Defective laser synchronizing detector for start position

    * Defective LDB

    1. Check the harness connection between IPU and laser unit or around OPI.

    2. Check the connectors inside the laser unit.

    3. Replace the laser synchronizing detector for start position.

    4. Replace the laser unit.

I may be wrong, I remember one from a few years ago, drove us crazy! Pull out the fuser and duplex etc and check for paper or debris in ALL the sockets in the rear frame, use a torch and look very carefully. Can cause loss of various voltages and result in very odd faults. I would even scratch around the inside of the sockets with a sharp pointy thing... POWER DOWN FIRST of course... good luck!
