    MPC2800 white faded/patchy prints

    Hi all,

Iv got a customer with a mpc2800 that prints white patchy, fading effect across thr page on every color. Color sky shots will present the problem more clearly. Iv changed the transfer belt assy, roller assy and cleaning unit with no change. Checked the contacts for the transfer and all looks ok.

Has anyone got any suggestions or run into this before?

    Cheers

    Nick

Be helpful if you could post a picture of how it looks.

How does the imagine look on the belt?

Without seeing something a possible stupid point might be to swipe the slit glasses on the laser housing unit. Why it would be screwed up for everything at once, I am not sure, but just thinking of something that comes to mind since you replaced the belt unit and the transfer roller.

Another possible issue would be is it getting fused completely?

I would have a very close look at the 2 (front and rear) small black plastic ptr holders that are screwed to the main frame of the machine that correctly position the ptr roller when you shut the main duplex door. These can develop cracks and or break off bits and trust me ( hours of fault finding years ago) can cause patchy uneven cq problems accross all colours. I keep a pile of them in my case now as I have seen this many times now.

Better still I would remove the PTR holder and replace it with the new modified part (metal pins vs plastic pins, etc), this will save you a lot of hassle down the road.

Also, at the bottom of the holder, where it hinges to the duplex door, there is a metal plate. Sometimes the corners of this plate bend back and allow the unit to fall slightly forward, this can cause creasing, uneven image, jamming, etc. If it goes too far the door becomes difficult to close.

Fyi, the parts I mentioned have nothing to do with the door mounted assemblies, the 2 small brackets that I mention are screwed to the frame of the machine under the fuser assy.

I would advise you to take both out (2 screws each) and have a good look for cracks. The first time I had this the front one had a crack, that only opened up when the door was shut and the ptr is pressed against these holders, it looked perfect when you looked at it mounted to the frame, it was only when I took it out and found it had hairline crack thru it, and trust me thats enough to cause cq problems.

My bet is on the laser unit shutters starting to stick, remove em.

Mpc2800 series never had the laser shutter, that was 2500, 3500, 4500.

Problem fixed. Just needed to apply that modded duplex unit with the metal door pin. Seems to have worked ok. Even though i found that the plastic wasnt damaged to begin with.
