[Jamming] Ricoh MP C3000 Jamming at Registration Roller

Our Ricoh MP C3000 is always jamming at the registration roller. Jam code J017. After check up I found out the registration roller is not turning causing paper z-folding at the registration roller. I do an output test in service mode for the registration sensor and registration motor. The registration sensor test good but the registration motor don't respond. I am looking at replacing the registration motor. But I am also thinking about the IOB Board which the registration motor is connected. Any ideas?

I really need help on this one.
    Thanks.

A jam code J017 means that the C3000 did not detect the paper reaching the registration sensor within a specific length of time. A sensor that test OK on a static test can still be bad when it comes to dynamic operation, i.e. the sensor is slow in changing state when the paper gets there. Check Engine firmware. If it not at 1.15:01 or higher, update the firmware. If the firmware is at or above 1.15:01, replace the registration sensor with a new sensor. Do not take a used sensor from another machine.

Thanks slimslob for a prompt reply. I will be replacing the registration sensor. The engine firmware is 1.10:01. I guess I have to update the engine firmware as well. Do you know where I could buy the engine firmware of this Ricoh MP C3000?

      Thank you.

I had this exact fault many years ago, tried reg motor and differant feed stations, turned out to be a bad connector on the IOB, one of the connectors at the very bottom from memory

I am doing a firmware update to fix this problem. But I am having problem updating the firmware of this Ricoh MP C3000. I recieved the firmware in zip file. Thanks to someone who sent me. Extracted and copied it to SD Card 4GB. Inserted the SD Card to slot number 3 and turn on the machine. But it seems the machine is not detecting the SD CARD. It goes to READY after a while.

Have I missed something in the firmware update procedure?
Or is the 4GB SD CARD to large for the machine to read?

Yeah I think 4gb too big for this machine, we use a 512mb for this age of machine, you can always use the web browser to install the firmware, as long as the file format is *.rfu, and not fwu

Did you put it into a romdata folder? 4GB is probably too big, 2GB should suffice. I still use old Java SD cards (512MB).

This will not recognize anything over over 2GB. Even at 2 GB it might give an error code. Also, do not have anything else on the SD card. You may have to reformat the SD card. Do not use Windows format function. Download and install the Panasonic SD card format program. If you are having trouble finding 1 GB or smaller SD cards, you can use MiniTool Partition Manager to repartition a larger SD card to 1 GB. MiniTool Partition Manager

Thanks finally able to update firmware after using a 1gb sd card and formatting it via Panasonic sd card formatter. Renaming the B230 folder to "romdata" and turning on firware update in service mode. Got download error e49 the first time.

Unluckily the machine problem remains. It's still z-folding at the registration roller. Looking to replace now the registration sensor and registration motor. Could a deffective IOB be causing the same problem?

Finally solve the problem by replacing the IOB. Thanks to everyone.
