Everything on copier works except printing. copier had a security /encryption unit installed on it. I disable it .by doing uninstall in extend feature. Along with java app. Computer sees copier and installs driver no problem but do a test page nothing comes out of copier and if you open print diver you can watch it show up and clear like it sent to to copier. Data light on copier doesn't come on at all. I found if you try to use web monitor says forbidden.

Re: MP C4501 Printing Problem
Is the printer "shared"? Also, is it set as your default printer? Sure the assigned port/ip is correct (static)? Sure you're not actually sending to an already assigned ip?
You said document is going somewhere.... where?????
Use a crossover & connect right at MFP with laptop... does it print?
Any firewall blocking going on? -
Re: MP C4501 Printing Problem
Do a memory reset on NCS and Printer Application. You will need to re-ent er the Interface Settings again, try setting them to DHCP and let the machine pick up an IP. Use this temporary IP and add a new printer queue. Do not use the Windows driver, always download the most up to date driver from Ricoh, aim for PCL 6.
If you are installing on a newer version of Windows make sure that the Device Type is set to TCP/IP Device and not Web Device or Auto.
If it still doesn't work there could be a fault with the controller or the customers network, more likely the network.
If it does work with the new IP but not the old one, then another device is on that IP. Try unplugging the copier and ping the old IP, any responses means that another device is on that IP.Comment

Re: MP C4501 Printing Problem
Check the setting of 5985-001. It should be set to 1. It is probably currently set to 2 as I know that will give you the WIM symptom that you mention. As for the printing, it will only print if you are using NRS or LDAP/NT authentication with valid authentication information contained in the header of the print job. Otherwise, the NIB receives the data and just dumps it. You can also get the same printing symptom when using User Code authentication for printing and the print job does not contain a valid user code.
SP 5985-001 On Board NIC
0: Disable, 1: Enable, 2: Function limitation
When the "Function limitation" is set, "On board NIC" is limited only for the NRS or LDAP/NT authentication. Other network applications than NRS or
LDAP/NT authentication are not available when this SP is set to "2". Even though you can change the initial settings of those network applications, the settings do not work.Comment

Re: MP C4501 Printing Problem
Also 1 thing to check is if user codes for printing is enabled. If so you will need to put the user code in the print driver ( only once ). That will give a symptom of the job leaving the computer and the copier just dumping it.Live for something or die for nothing.Comment
