An SC324 won't be the finisher, those SCs are in the SC7xx range. Would this be an MP400x/MP500x model? if so the developer unit is almost certainly seized and you need it to be replaced. This is a reasonably common problem even now but was a big issue a few years ago before they made some changes to the developer units.
As for disabling the finisher, shut the machine off and simply disconnect the harness connecting the finisher to the main machine. The unit will give another error because it doesn't see a finisher but it does see the bridge but that error can be ignored and the machine will run exiting paper on top of the bridge unit. -
