    [Misc] Mpc 2003 pdf to large

    Hi all
    My customer had a oliveti unit before they upgraded to mpc 2003 .
    They tell me the oli had a compress file button to make pdf document for easy fast email.
    So I basically need a way for the actual file size to be a lot smaller without losing any quality.
    Any ideas or help are very welcome.

      1. Check the scanner settings. There should be a selection for file compression.
      2. Keep resolution set at 200 to 300 dpi. For most government offices who accept scanned documents, 300 is the required setting. Anything less and they will reject as their OCR can miss read, anything higher and they will reject as the file size is too large.
      3. Keep the default set for high contrast B/W if they are doing mostly text scanning. Grey scale takes more data and is not as compressible, color takes even more space.
      4. If the MP C2003 has searchable PDF capability, turn it off as it an entire additional layer of OCR results to the document and can take considerable time to process before sending.

          Go to User Tools > Scanner Features > Send Settings and make sure the compressions are turned on and set to their highest values.
