    dsm 618 faxing

Hi, where and how do I set the modem speed for this fax unit???
I've got a customer with voip.
I've turned off the ECM, and now I don't know where to adjust the modem rate.
    Please explain!!!

To answer your question, use the G3 Bit switches.
But it is a very iffy thing. the 618 fax module, like most, is an analog device. You'll need an ATA and enable T.38 protocol. Make sure your carrier supports T.38.
Get the check and change your cell number.

I would call support and have them walk you through it. The can have you print out and read reports and then make adjustments on that basis. There is the chance that there is not enough bandwidth to support the fax on the VOIP. I've run into this on a customers network and they were able to adjust the bandwidth, but I've not had any luck dealing with Vonage to do anything.

I did some research on VOIP and faxing.
I comes out to something simple.
Fax NCU cards transmit and work on a analog signal.
        VOIP is digital.
How do you break down an analog carrier signal to digital????
Voice sounds good but a modem is much more sensitive to packets.
If they have VOIP then they have an ISP.
If they have an ISP why do they need a fax?????????
A scanner and printer would do the same with e-mail.
If they have a computer they have a modem.
Try faxing with the internal modem using Windows fax driver.
I bet it doesn't work any better.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?
