I have a machine that we put a new imaging unit with developer in it on nov 25th and it over toning bad, toner running out of the dv unit all in the machine and trays used almost a bottle of toner before i shut it down. I did the sp 2801 when i put it in back in nov so do i have a bad unit or is a problem with the machine.I did look in the manual and could not find out if the toner sensor is in the unit itself or on the machine.

It's probably a bad unit problem , seal or gearsLive for yourself and you will live in vain. Live for others, and you will live again -

Are you using Oem toner? I've seen the condition you've described happen in the past (not specifically on these models) when the generic (crap) mixes with the oem dev, etc.
Whatever the case, I'd suggest that the issue is definitely with the PCU and/or generic toner mix
And "Yes" the TD sensor is on the bottom of the PCU.Comment
