    Back side Shading

I notice on some of the Ricohs I have out there that they have back side shading, usually about the first inch or inch and a half on first copy on backside of copy. Figure its the transfer roller, yet I have change it out and still have it. The shading goes away after first two or three copies. Stop check say's its not the fuser. What ???????

    Re: Back side Shading

the only two components that touch the back side of the paper on a single sided job are the image transfer roller or fusing unit pressure roller. It's either one or the other. Could be dirty rollers in the paper path but that would not produce "shading". If the job is double sided than it could be a grounding issue of the drum or charge, or a development issue. More testing would need to be done to provide further help.

You did not specify the model so I am assuming that it is a 35 ppm or slower machine. Two things:
      1. Replace the paper transfer roller
      2. Turn on the transfer roller cleaning option in SP settings to help keep the new roller clean longer. And no I am not going to take the time to look up the SP number for you. You can do that yourself.
