MP 161 L scan with USB port

    Hello.

I have one costumer that have an MP 161 L on his personal PC with Win7. He need to scan with it. Is it possible?
This device is plugged into a USB port. I installed a DDST printer driver to make it print, and I think I need to install a DDST twain drive. Is it true?
I tried to install it in my PC but with no success... gives me an error when I try to setup...

Is there anything else I can do to make it work?

    Thanks for your replies.

Scanning is only possible via the (optional) network port - not USB

Depending on the exact model of MP 161, it may not have scanning. I do not recognize the 161L so it might be a non-US model. The MP 161SPF is the US model that comes with scanner. The other models need to have it added as an option.

This model can do GDI scanning, but it is very flakey, and requires the correct application and possibly OS. This model cannot be upgraded to SMB scanning.

The L has copier, printer, scanner and USB by default. The LN has all that with NIC. They are different to the F and SPF version as they don't come with a fax option, also they have a TINY (48MB and 80MB, respectively) amount of memory to process scan jobs with.

To get this model to scan you will need to install a third part TWAIN application, Windows 7 does not come with TWAIN scanning capabilities, instead it uses WIA.

Thanks so much for your info... Do you suggest or do you know any third part TWAIN application for Win 7?
What about the DDST TWAIN driver? It might do the job?
