    [Misc] MP c8002 banding

Hi, I have an MP c8002 with banding issues but intermittently regular, if that makes sense. It's the black unit only. I have renewed the charge roller and it worked for a few jobs but then it goes banding again, and the banding spacing seems to be the charge roller. I have swapped the charge roller also from the yellow and it did the same. But every time I pull the machine apart and put it back together, even without changing anything, it seems fine for a few copies or runs, so I am thinking of some kind of bad earth or connection.

Sorry for being so vague but I just can't work it out. I leave the customer happy and they will do a run, no problems, start another run and it may start off fine but then goes bandy halfway through and then fine again on the same run etc. So very intermittent.

    Thanks for any info.

If the machine is correcting itself 'eventually' you might be able to fix the issue by decreasing the the auto process control cycle so that it runs more often.

As to why it is doing this in the first place, the first things I would check would be potential control sensor on the drum, clean terminals at the back of the pcdu, parts are within pm...

Does the banding occur only on a specific job or on anything over a certain quantity? Always the black you mentioned? How about the image transfer roller for the black within the ITB (not listed as a pm part but it is)? Or completely isolated to the k charge roller? Is the drum cleaning unit possibly failing and leaving a band on the drum?

Is there anything special about the paper?

There are buttloads of modifications on my-ricoh for this thing.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

            Hit it.
