Prninting issues with MP400 in server 2008 R2

    Hello all.

I am facing problems with two MP4000 that are connected in to a server 2008 R2. In that costumer I have several devices models and only that two MP400 are giving me a headache.
The problem is that they stop printing randomly and i am forced to rebut them... All the firmware and drivers are up to date...

Is there anybody as ever faced that problem to? Is there any tips?

    Thank all for your time

It sounds like there's an IP configuration issue somewhere. Either the 4000's have IP's that have also been assigned, or they're configured to DHCP. Instead of rebooting them right away, check the logs in the web interface and see if anything there gives you somewhere to narrow down the search. I've seen both instances cause issues, as well as even old DNS records for the IP's still floating out on a DNS server.

I've actually been recommending LPD printing to most of my customers, even in Windows only shops. See if the server admin is willing to add the LPR Port Monitor feature to the server and re-add those two by LPR ports instead of straight TCP/IP. The queue name will be lp, I've seen better printing results with this, and it also allows for better compatibility in mixed OS environments as Macs and Linux machines can better communicate with the print server since they're using a native printing format. Printing also seems smoother with Windows machines as well this way. It may have changed, but LPR used to be Ricoh's preferred method for printing anyway.
