I am constantly being told our service dept is over staffed. Last base count we show about 3500 devices. 80% ricoh multi function 10% sharp and 10% HP printers. we have 13 techs in a area that goes 75 miles east /75 miles west and 100 miles south of us. Not everyone is trained on everything but on Ricoh 9 techs can work on anything. Is their a worksheet that can tell me what my staffing should be? And does 13 techs for 3500 devices sound too high to anyone? Thanks

Re: Manpower
We all here this from time to time!!!!! there are certain industry metrics that are widely thrown about though. Ricoh has there own metrics as do all manufacturers. Contact your ricoh TSM for this info in your area. Also you could check out enxmag.com for this info. enx is an independent magazine for the copier world. When you do the math for your scenario, 80% Ricoh is 2800 devices/ 9 techs = 311 devices per tech. 20% sharp and HP = 700 devices/ 5 techs =140 devices/tech and your covering 15000 square miles. Hardly equally to all tech's..............
