Check the paper type setting for the document. If it is set for a much thinner than it is being printed, the fusing temperature is automatically lowered for some thin paper types.

        [SYMPTOM]
Cold offset (poor fusing from insufficient heating) may occur under the following conditions:
        • Original: Low-coverage, black and white image
        • Paper: Plain, A4 or LT, LEF
        • Environment:

        • Low-temperature conditions, or
        • Thick paper used, or
        • Paper with rough or uneven surface used

        CAUSE
The fusing temperature for TEC mode is not high enough to properly fuse the toner.

"TEC mode" lowers the fusing temperature when printing onto low-coverage B&W A4/LT originals fed in the LEF direction, in order to improve the machine's TEC (total energy consumption) value. If one or more of the environmental conditions described above is met, the fusing roller is not hot enough to fuse the toner to the paper correctly.

        SOLUTION
If the symptom occurs, for each target model shown below, disable TEC mode by changing the following SP settings:

        For EU/AA/CHN models:
SP No. Recommended setting Target model Note:
1-101-101 165 D143 The TEC value will increase slightly.
        1-112-002 0
1-101-101 168 D144 The TEC value will increase slightly.
        1-112-002 0

        For NA/TWN models:
SP No. Recommended setting Target model Note:
1-101-101 180 D143 The TEC value will increase slightly.
        1-112-002 0
1-101-101 180 D144 The TEC value will increase slightly.
