Good evening we are about to upgrade some Mp 2550 to the MP 2352 2852 3352 range. Can you use the type 1027 pcu in this range. Thank you J

Re: MP 2352 2852 3352
Just prepare yourself for a mess as they tend to leak in these models (me thinks it is because of the higher speeds), and then you need to replace the whole pcu where the breakable pcu you can simply order the parts (drum, dev, blade, charge roller).....
May look like a quick fix, but I don't like techs who do that to these machines.Press the GREEN button!!Comment

Re: MP 2352 2852 3352
I have approx. 50 machines out in the field with Type 1027 PCU's in place of the more expensive rebuildable one.
I have never ever linked a problem to using the Type 1027.
I've been running them this way for several years.
I say do it, and if you have issues then deal with that, but I'm guessing you won't.

When they fail at 20K copies it ends up being way more expensive, but I think he was referring to replacing the entire rebuildable unit when the gears and seals fail.Comment

I think you have to look at cost as more than money.
I'm paying $200 currently +/-$10 for a OEM type 1027 PCU from Precision or Supplies Network.
Just looked on Ebay even cheaper than that right now.
So $200 to replace a failing PCU, a few minutes to look over the unit and a happy customer for 60,000 and in MOST cases more.
The Pluses: A 10 minute call, $200 and rarely any failures of the PCU and best of all "A happy customer".
The minuses: No mess to deal with at customers office as they eyeball you and wonder why you don't just put in a new one. Cost is a bit less but the reliability can't be overall as good as the fresh PCU. By the time your done with the rebuild and cleanup you need to be out the door and headed to your next call...not allowing time for a good machine cleanup and inspection, but if you do take the time it costs (more money).
And lastly if the customer has to call and it's a PCU issue you look bad and the customer feels let down by you, your company and the product. Customer satisfaction suffers.
So I will stick with installing a Type 1027, keep my happy customers and still double my money on the sale of the PCU.
I may be looking at this from a different perspective than others because of being an owner / technician.
Customer satisfaction is more important to me than $20-$40. I'll make that up next time I sell them a machine.

Re: MP 2352 2852 3352
I put in a brand new TYPE 1027 in a 3352 that was leaking toner. It seemed to have fixed the problem, but now after just ~10K or so this is what happened to the new imaging unit. Also if the TYPE 1027 is supposed to work in this machine correctly why do you have to snap off the plastic pin on the imaging unit?
