    MP2851

    Hi,

this machine gives no paper empty signal on drawer 1 !!
Checked and replaced the empty detection sensor, changed the drawer.
    no results, don't know what's causing the problem . . .
    anyone a tip on this?

    thanks in advance

Do you hear the lift motor trying to do its thing.
If you do you might want to open up the back of the machine and Locate the
sensors that tell the drawer what location it's in. These sensors have a tendency
to pop out of their mounting holes.
I know others will laugh at this, but I super glue them lightly in place.
    Never have an issue afterwards.

I for one am not going to laugh at this, as I wish I would have thought of doing that on the earlier versions of this chassis.

Hot glue is my preference to get things to stay in place.

          Motor is lifting !
Sensors are in there mounting holes, first thing I check . . .
So at the end of the lifting it stays and given a paper full drawer, but there is no paper !!

          ??

Just a note about gluing the sensor legs in place...
At machines that I've done this I invariably have to return a month or so later because of a snapped actuator flag.
Gluing the feet in place means that the sensor can no longer "pop" out of the housing so the weak point becomes the flag.
Remember this fault happens because the customers lean on the tray whilst closing it and the numbskulls are STILL going to do this after you service the machine.
Once the sensor pops out the first time I replace the sensor AND the bracket that it sits in and only use glue as a last resort as a bush fix

Yeah I'm with you on the height sensor above the paper. I don't use the glue on that either.
The ones I do glue are the tray sensors on the back of the machine that control lift tray.
But yeah your right about the paper height sensor.

                  +1

There is a cutout in the plate that the sensor flag should drop through if there is no paper. This causes the tray empty condition. If the flag is out of position it will hit the plate and be pushed up with the plate causing the false paper full condition.

Also check that the bottom plate is not bent.
