    Ricoh MPC5501 error message

This is a new one to me a copier tech and NOT a IT guru! Customer was trying to print a picture on cardstock (Thick selected) through by-pass and was working fine for about 20 copies then it prints out this-(PCL XL error Warning: IllegalMediaSource) on a piece of paper. I have not been to the customers office being so late in the day but wanted to see if I could get a few idea's before hand. Thanks!

Make sure the PCL firmware is up to date. PCL XL is PCL 6, so try using PCL 5 or an older models RPCS (some of the newer models still support it).

      Latest firmware: PCL v1.07

It could be a problem with the document.

If it is a single document, check the page formatting of the document. There might be a page format change during the last page that printed correctly or as the first character of the first page after that.

If it is multiple documents, check that the page format of the first one that does not print is the same as all others.
