    Fuser Issues???

I have put a new fuser in my MP C4000 Copier and when I start to print the first few pages the toner comes off the paper. Also, if I am running a long job (say 1000 sheets) Part way through the job the toner will start to track. Almost like the fuser is not staying at the right heat? When I run on NCR I have to oput it through the By Pass on Thick 1 to make it work without tracking or stripping.

    Any Thoughts??

    Thanks in Advance

That model always seemed to be pretty particular in terms of paper types, and job run lengths: it's a business colour machine, not a production box so it never seemed to handle long runs very well.

Well, I did not have this problem when I first got the copier (Refurbished) It seems to be the same on short runs as well. Especially the first couple of pages.

It`s a fuser issue, so I`d be taking the issue up with your source.
You apparently didnt`t have this problem before, and now you do.

Please provide some details on this "new" fuser. I`d be very surprised if it was actually New, and not a rebuild.
Sounds like something is wrong with either the Pressure adjustment and/or the roller itself.

as others have said, this model was very touchy with this problem. Make sure you are not overtoned on any colour, run all the colour mode calibrations. Model is very picky about paper quality with this offsetting issue. Fyi, I can tell you that fiddling with fuser temps will not make any difference to this issue. Its one of those things that just seemed to happen, and no-one ever got to exactly why.

I would double check the fuser again. New? Referb? Sounds like the pressure/hot roller had its time and never got replaced. I guess you can set tray 1 to thick1 and just use that, just a bit slower.

I would guess that its the fuser itself i would venture to guess the hot roller is trash, personally I have not had that many issues with this model fuser or rebuilding them, but there is also a gear at the rear for the pressure roller to kick on pressure possibly this gear is chewed and its slipping so pressure is not being maintained properly. If its a rebuild I would open it up and look it over and make sure it was rebuilt and doesn't look like crap inside, the hot roller sleeves were never my favorite fuser design in which they seemed to have continued to make even worse on the 4502/5502 models, streaks and smudges on the sleeve designs are almost always a hot roller issue.
