    MPC305 PCDU's

Hi guys. I know these machines are much maligned on here as i have read lot's of the threads relating to them. Lucky for me i only have one on my patch and im not trained on this model. If there has been a post regarding the PCDU's please forgive me but. This machine i look after has had magenta and cyan PCDU's replaced over the last 3 months (55k colour and 26k b&w prints) and now the black and yellow are giving PQ issues as well. Can these units be stripped down and cleaned? is it the charge roller or cleaning parts that cause feint lines down the print? Or do i just bin the old PCDU's?

    Thanks

      Re: MPC305 PCDU's

So far in our experience these drums are not lasting 60k, more like 20k to 30k. From what it sounds it has to do with the user, if the user is print/copy a lot of 1 page jobs the drums make the print then roll back around to a home position, where if they print multiple sheets the drum is timed to be at home position after the last sheet is completed. Least this is what we have been told, so basically if they made 15k single page sheets the drum has rotated twice that amount so that its at home position essentially meaning it has run the equivalent of 30k pages not 15k. This could be all bullcrap to make us feel better about replacing crap pcus but its the information we were given. Their design was meant to run larger jobs then what most customers are using the model for, so the pcus are hitting rotation yields but not paper count yields.

We have pretty much just gone to the point of the quality is coming from the pcdu then replace it even it there is only half the page count yield.
