Firmware MPC 2800

Hello,

I have a question. We have a customer with a Ricoh MPC 2800.
1.The fax system dont work. When i push the button i get no reaction.
2.The customer cannot regist new users in de web image monitor.
Can i solve it with new firmware?

Who can and will send me the firmware package?

simple answer probably not and probably no one

If you select user tools does the fax option appear

Firmware is very unlikely to be the cause of the problem
check the fax unit connections are fitted properly
they have a habit of moving slightly causing the connector to move apart and the fax not function properly


Firmware is available from the ricoh tech sites but you need to be authorized to obtain it

Agree with Elmo its likely its not connected properly or the MBU wasn't turned on, if the machine is not recognizing the fax option there would be no where to install firmware even if you had it. I would follow the PDF Elmo posted and make sure its connected properly make sure you power down and unplug the machine from the wall prior to starting the work. Better yet if your not a service tech please contact one to properly install the option and update the firmware.

Make sure the fax is installed first, these units do not come with fax as standard. The button may be left over from when it used to have a fax option but has since been removed. Also, check the batteries on the unit, they could be dead or the on/off jumper could be missing or set to off.

Are there any users currently in the address book or is it empty? You could try using Smart Device Monitor for Admin and add the users as a CSV file.

I've had this before, or something very similar. The fax unit was dead and locked up WIM address book.Think it was an MPC5000 but same box of frogs. Try removing the fax option from the controller then re-install the controller box without it. I think you will find you can now add addresses via WIM. The fax will need to be replaced.
