    mpc2551 toner near end

We have a mpc2551 that is saying toner low on all 4 colours even after toner has been replaced the copies are all ok and the copier has been running like this for some time so i dont think its a toner supply issue.if you look in the sp 3101 09 all the colours show a negitive reading the way i have fixed this on an mpc4502 is to carryouy a ram clear turn the copier off add a new toner and turn copier back on then re input the birth info.We tried this on the mpc2551 only to find that when you power on the coper it would comeup with blkpcdu no set we re uploaded the ram data that i had backed up and the copier whent back to normal but still with the original fault what am i missing i have tried playing about with sp3045 1/2 i know its the negrtive reading that is the problem or is it i need to change the rfid board

If I remember correctly, are recomputed each time toner is added to the developer. The resulting value is then written to the ID chips on the back of the toner cartridges. Changing SP 3045-001 to 1 will tell the machine not to read the ID chips, I have machines show toner remaining as 100% while 3045 is 1. When the TD sensor on the development unit determines it is time to replace the cartridge and prohibits copying, the value in machine is reset to 0. When the TD sensor detects that toner is now in the developer, the value is set to 100% and it starts computing the new value, which is written to the ID chip but not read. Changing 3045 back to 0 and rebooting will cause the RFID board to read the chips for their current value and use that as the base for future calculations.

          Something to think about -
If the machine is printing properly, feel free to ignore the low toner message. Just make sure to have a new set of toners on hand for when the machine actually runs out of toner and stops printing.
If you replaced the toners while the machine was just displaying the low toner message, I don't think the machine will reset that message. I'm pretty sure that it will only reset that when the machine stops printing because it is actually out of toner.

Slimslob is on the right track i think. For the 3045 sp to work I believe you have to set it to not read the power off and reboot. Make a few copies then go back and enable it, then even though it may display I would reboot again and see if they return to normal. Beyond that I would go with Iowatechs advice and ignore it until next time bottles are replaced or disable it in 3045 for now until the machine actually runs out of toner and requires new bottles and maybe see if it will read correctly at next replacement. As long as toner is in there mixing and the pumps are working it shouldn't shut down until it is really out of toner.

You can always check the firmware and make sure its up to date also.
