    MPC2051 ADF ISSUE

    HI ALL
mpc 2051 originally fault reported was "adf dead"
you put riginal in and hit start but doesnt feed......my co worker decided on the bcu pwb..and that worked for about half a day.
we both went back and noted that the platen o/c sensor wasnt working either so checked adf output and all motors were fine, checked platen o/c sensor and there was no change in input sp mode.
checked harness from o/c sensor to pwb and all ok,,, checked working o/c sensor from another mpc and thats ok......
so we have another down bcu pwb,
my question is does anybody know what can be taking the bcu down so that just the df is not working ?
the only logical thing says that the machine thinks the df is open so it wont work in normal mode but as expected you can do output tests in sp mode....(scan lamp doesnt light up as would be normal when o/c senser activated).
and as such we found no voltage to the o/c sensor from the pwb (cn 205)......but we dont understand what is taking it out ??!!
so far we replace the bcu, the o/c sensor and the pwb that the o/c sensor plugs into that sits behind the bcu (forgot what its called..sorry)
    any advise please peeps ?

    regards
    raider

Any recent firmware updates done, I don't remember for sure if its the doc feeder for that model but there were some of those color machines that had special firmware for the adf because of some change in boards by the ricoh and if the wrong firmware was installed you got a dead adf needing to replace the board.

This may have been for a different ADF unit but if firmware was loaded make sure its correct and up to date.

      hi
      thanks for the promt responce
i wasnt involved from the start of the problem but i will contact the engineer on monday to see if firmware was done prior to the issues.
i did do it when i attended with him after the call came back in,but its a starting point......
i think i had that firmware fault on one of the larger mpc ricohs some time ago, its somthing to do with a change in the supplier for the adf pwb i think (post japan sunami).
      thanks again
i will keep you informed as every little helps us all.
