    Ricoh mp c3002 Black marks

Hi all. We only have 1 of these machines out there so I don't know if this is a common fault.
Every 2 weeks or so the black drum cylinder gets a build up of something that has to be cleaned off. It is random marks, almost like glue but only plain paper is ever used.
The magenta cylinder had the same random grug on it today. I have checked the ITB and this is fine.
The black drum has only done 150k of what I think is a 300k yield.
Fitting a new drum is a last resort as these are seriously expensive.

I have never seen this problem on any of the 2500/2800/4500 machines we have in the field.
    Any ideas anyone?

No haven't tried that. With the mpc2500 etc we just changed the pcu and didn't really take them apart.
I'll vac out the waste toner in the pcu, clean the blade and see what happens.
          Thanks. I'll let you know.

Seen a lot of this, although usually the first drum to get these strange sticky marks in my experience is the Y drum. Only happens to machines that have high volumes on the drums, so they are well worn. I have tried cleaning the drum, but you will be back - soon. In my opinion its a sign that you need to replace the drum/s.

                Hi,
that seems to me like lubricating wax from the bar. Not only clean the drum but strip down charge roller and clean also the surface of wax bar.

As above posters have said it was wax from the bar. I've never taken one of these drums apart before. Didn't even know there was a wax bar?

The bar had worn down at a angle. Is this common on these drums and can the bar be scraped back to level and put back in?

Also, while we're on this thread, can the black drums be modified to fit the colours like the 2500/2800?

                  Thanks for the help

Something that i have only seen once, but is worth a look at, is the drive for the waste toner collection coil. It sits on the left, just above the waste toner bottle an runs across the front of the machine below the pcus.. I had one where the coil got clogged and broke the drive gear clean off. Then the waste started piling up in the pcu shutes until eventually it started seizing up the waste coils in the pcus.

The black was the first to complain as most prints contain black.

There is no sensors on this coil drive, so if it fails the machine won't complain until the pcu's start to labour.

                    Worth a shot.
