Greetings All!
Not sure how many small companies out there subsist on selling new-sed (off lease machines for resale) to help profit their company, but we ran into a situation that we received several new-sed machines in which threw the SC899 error code when trying to use the fax function.
The machine is a Savin C9145 (D088). Come to find out, the Fax board is common to multiple newer MFP's and this particular machine somewhere along the line in the off-lease warehouse had the fax board swapped out for another. Long story short, the fax board is good but the MBU (Memory Board Unit) is incorrectly matched to the machine model!....imagine that! Nowhere in the troubleshooting for the SC899 error code do they mention the relation for the error code and an incorrect MBU!!! I found this from Hytec from repair and you can do a quick check here to find out if the MBU is correct for your particular machine:
Hytec Circuit Board, Print Controller, Stapler, Power Supply, Fuser Repair Catalog
Hope this helps for any of those out there that are fighting this "board swap" idiocy!!!
CHEERS!

PS--for those of you who are un-aware of where the MBU resides, it is piggy-backed on top of the fax board and should have "MBU" silk-screened in white lettering!
