    Lanier MP 5002

I have a Lanier MP 5002 with light copies. I've replaced the developer unit, developer, drum and charge roller, cleaned out the laser unit, updated the firmware, and replaced the entire transfer unit to no avail. This is easily the worst series of machines Ricoh has ever produced, anybody come across this or have any idea of what's wrong with this piece of crap? I'm at my wits end with this series and its predecessors.

There isn't a paper transfer roller on this model, only a transfer belt

There are 2 HV connectors onto the transfer belt unit, are you sure these are plugged in the correct way round, if these get swapped over then you will get faint copies

Are prints and copies faint, or just copies?

Check the development bias voltage - the high voltage supply board applies a bias of -560V to the development roller.

Meter the continuity at drum shaft most of the time bad ground will cause this issue.
what if you have solid print on drum but not properly transfer on the paper which you need to check Transfer belt section.
I have had the Toner Motor gone bad on this model a few months ago as well but of course you will get toner end indication after few copies.

Also need to clean the Mag roller shaft lot of toner build up will cause poor bias voltage.

what is the vsp and vsg readings?

1.Stop the machine while printing by guessing that the paper mid of the transfer belt
2.Check the image on both drum and the paper
3.If the image on the drum more dark than the image on the paper, then you can decide the section of frailer

In one of this beauties....have to change ld board.....also could be drum earth or the magnetic roller issue....if you have other machine working well change laser unit first....then developer unit.
