    MP161F to MP161SPF Possible?

Hi Guys.. I've only recently started working on Ricoh kit so please forgive if im asking a silly question.
We uninstalled what we thought was an MP161SPF as the front door sticker says this. Soon found out the rear sticker stated MP161F Model B284-67.
SMC states no printer firmware installed also so i guess when it was originally installed by another company that the sticker was put on in error or the machine has been downgraded? The other clue i noticed was that there is only a copier button on the control panel and not scan or print.
The machine has RJ45 and USB port and has a FAX card installed and machine has 128MB of memory. I've skimmed through the training material for this machine and it states that these machines are not upgradeable. Is this the case? was thinking that if i add a scan/print SD card and 256MB of memory that it would be an SPF and can be used to print rather than just copy and fax.
Does the EPROM's on the main board stop this from happening or is it possible? Regards

I was under the impression that the only versions that couldn't be updated were the 161/171 variants that still use PCI cards for firmware since they're not using the GW platform. If you've got a model with an SD card you should be able to get a print/scan kit that will give you the additional buttons as well as the controller add-ons boards.

I think it also depends on the market the machine is sold in: I know for a fact there are some Latin America models of the 171 that cannot be upgraded.

Someone should have a copy of the Product Support Guide that has all of the upgrade options for the different versions: it really depends on the build number (the Bxxx or Dxxx number) of the machine as to what you can do with it.

According to the support guide the print/scanner option is only for the B288/B292 - MP161SPF/MP161

Nothing works quite so well that I can't totally disable it by trying to make it a little better.

The Bicu on the "f" model is different to the "spf" model and upgrade without changing the bou will not achieve anything as the firmware is also different.

As mentioned, the Print / Scan option is only for the base model, not the "F"...been there...

            From the Product Support Guide:

Printer Scanner Option Type 161 (For B292 only)

Sorry, but it's against the Marcus of Queensbury rules to publicly post a PSG... just like manuals.
