    Ricoh MP9000 toner everywhere

    Hello,
I have a mp9000 that keeps getting a light band due to toner getting on the laser shield glass, when i cracked the drum section open, there was toner everywhere, i detailed the section and cleaned the glass, and now it is dirty again after a few thousand.

Copy quality looks great, developer is at around 300k, do you think developer needs to be changed, or is there some filters that need to be cleaned/changed.

    Thanks

Check the PM items related to your problem like the filters. Developer change Should help.
    Whatever

at the front of dev unit, above the magnetic roll you have a seal (2 screws secure it), change it.

          Thanks,
I will order the dev entrance seal (B234-3181) along with a few other needed parts and go from there.

I didn't notice that the seal might have been damaged, but I'm guessing its never been replaced in 1.8m, is this a common issue with these dev units??

One thing that can cause toner scattering in production machines is problems in the development unit suction system. If it has been more than 2.5 to 3M since the Toner Suction Bottle and Toner Suction motor have been replaced, pressure will build up in the development unit causing it to blow toner out around the magnetic roller even if the seals are in good shape. The hose on the top plate of the development unit and the one from the development unit to the suction motor can clog and cause the same things. Also check to see if you are getting any leakage from the toner pump.
