Ricoh MP 6002 - Receive Email

Has anyone ever configured a Ricoh MFP to receive emails with attachments (TIFF or JPG or PDF) and print them out automatically when received? A customer wanted to know if it was possible to do this, receive email from outside of the domain. If anyone has an experience to share, I would appreciate it if you would share the workflow required to set this up. I know the copiers have POP3 capabilities, but I have never set it up. Thanks!

What do you mean by "...receive email from outside of the domain."???

...an email account not part of the corporate account???

If you need an email client that works with multiple accounts, I recommend Thunderbird, created by Mozilla and completly FREE!!!..and easy to set-up!

Thunderbird is a free email application that’s easy to set up and customize - and it’s loaded with great features!

I wouldn't trust the e-mail on one of those MFP's....why?...well, if you needed to re-print or reference an e-mail later on, the easiest way would be to do it from a PC connected to the network.

    Just my 2 cents worth!

PS--as an added bonus, Thunderbird allows you to make routing rules so you can route particular emails to certain folders based on domain names, or keywords that you set up for easy organization!

The customer wants to receive emails at the machine. From senders outside of their own network. The copier would receive the email with an attachment, and print the attachment automatically. So essentially they want it to work like a fax, only print the email attachments. I've seen copiers print "internet fax" within a domain, from machine to machine.

I agree with your 2 cents worth.

How do they intend to check what needs to be printed and what does not?

Maybe I'm missing something, but the copier would have a dedicated email address, and only have emails sent to it with the intent of printing. The email address would serve the same purpose as a fax number. So spam could be an issue...

Yep that's how it works, You can also set the max reception size. you need a valid account for send and receive of email with the correct server info. whether or not you need pop or smtp for reception. I've only seen this used a couple times.................................

Ricoh support mail to print, but it is very limited. Receiving E-mail by Internet Fax/Mail to Print

Alternatively, you can install PaperCut and use the email to print. Email to Print
