    Question about PostScript language

    Hello,

We perform some test for a customer with a Ricoh MP 9002. The customer send a postscript file directly to printer. With the old device (a MP 9000) all work with no problem, but with MP 9002, it's odesn't work correctly.
The processus is simple, all of postscript file have a MEDIACOLOR instruction (blue, pink, green) and de MP 9000 select the good tray.

but In my Ricoh MP 9002, I just have "paper color 1" and "paper color 2" indication for tray, not all color, so when I send the file, they don't select a color tray ...

    Any idea ?

    Thanks for your help !

What do you mean directly printing? They print via ftp or printer driver?

Why do you need to use "mediacolour" can you not simply specify the tray to use or maybe use "mediatype" instead

It's SMB printing. I've never tried this way. I use SMB only when trying to resolve network printing issue. Check ftp printing and let me know.

            OK

Why do you need to use "mediacolour"
=> Because I don't create the spool. It's a file generate bye a software and I can't change this configuration

            Send by FTP
I try, but I have a 550 Permission Denied error ... (connect with standard admin account). I search a solution for this error, I update the post if I can

admin can't operate Ricoh machines. Make user test psswd test and put file on ftp server.

Think you will struggle unless you can edit the spool file, can you upload the .ps output file

                  Try direct LPR printing:

                  From a command prompt:

                  lpr -S 192.168.xxx.xxx -P lp c:\filename.ps -o 1

The "S" and "P" are case sensitive. The "-o" is an "oh", and the last character is a "one". I think the "ell pee" is case sensitive, too.

The "-o 1" sets the binary option on.

Silly question: Does the MP 9002 have PostScript? Not sure if it's standard or optional on that model.

PostScript is an option. I believe that the MP 9002 is one of the models that comes with built in PostScript emulation and XPS. PostScript emulation is not that great and XPS is not supported in the environment of terminal service and Citrix MetaFrame.

If there's one thing I've learned over the years (especially here on CTN) is that what may be standard in one country may be optional elsewhere.

                      It's marketing at its finest.

                        Ok, for do simple :

                        1. I have the postscript option (and yes, in France, it's an option !)
                        2. Print don't choose goosd tray with FTP Print

                        I think Ricoh postscript don't read "/MediaColor (blue)" command ... :/
