Ricoh Aficio 1035 SC320 Laser error

Got this customer with a Ricoh Aficio 1035 to whom I have changed the expensive Laser Unit about a couple of months ago because of a SC320 Error (Laser Motor Error), Now he just called me today to let me know the machine is throwing a SC320 AGAIN, and of course, he's pissed, I'd like to know why this machine has such a high rate of SC320's (i've been searching on another forums unsuccesfully) and maybe if someone has a SB (Service Bulletin) regarding this problem, I'll be glad to take a look at it.
I have the Service Manual but besides the flat cable and the LSU itself, it gives no more useful info on the subject.

    Thanks for your inputs.

I know that the door switches can cause weird problems in these machines. I wonder if there is too much heat build-up in the machine and the mirror motor is burning up somehow.

I haven't recalled any specific TSB's for this problem on this machine, unless there are recent TSB's that someone with current access to the TSC website can verify.

The LD goes right through the door switches, although that is not the specific sc problem you are having.

Has the machine been put in a different location and are all of the fans (in output mode) working properly with no duct issues? As a whole, when I worked on them, I did not have too many problems with these machines, other than the known issues. And, I do not recall hardly any mirror motor problems-unlike the previous 350/450 generation.

    I'm tryin' man

If the laser unit has been replaced then the switches near the fuser are your next place to look. If the machine runs dirty inside those switches are probably coated with toner and you'll get all kinds of crazy codes or cover open prompts.

Here's the bulletin for the LD135 for the same issue, but I've seen it on just about every member of this family.

I did see the 322/326 and, although it's not exactly the code he is getting, it's in the area of the problem he is having. Yeah, those door switches can do some weird stuff. I'd probably try to swap those out.

You may want to look at the values in SP2103. These are the electrical current values drawing from the LD motor. They default to -55 or something but if they are up around 64 or so, this is the symptom of door switches casuing too much resistance. When you replace the motor you should reset these to default (its listed there) It should reset itself but it doesnt always.
          Good luck.
I replace ALL the front and right door swtches just so I dont have see the customer again for the same problem but its most likely the upper right switches (3 of them, 2 different kinds) and to get to them you have to remove the Scanner.

You could try loosening the two front screws of the laser assy, with a screw driver under the lazer assy, lift it, while lifting tighten the laser assy screws. There was an adonis (Aficio 350) RTB for this, as a temporary measure. forever, hehehe

320 has always been a bad poly motor for me. If it went out prematurely i would be looking for a bad fan causing heat buildup to make it go out early. Go to output mode and turn each fan on one by one.
